Manila, Philippines, October 20, 2016 - The two winless teams of Pool B at the 2016 FIVB Women's Club World Championship go for their first victory as Hisamitsu Springs and Bangkok Glass clash in the Asian derby to open Day 3 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
In theory only the Thai side have slim mathematical chances of advancing to the semifinals, though they'd have to pull off two major upsets in their remaining matches to do so.
The Japanese side's second defeat on Wednesday in as many matches, means they're out of contention for the medals and can only chase tying their previous best finish of 5th.
Bangkok Glass- Bangkok Glass are making their debut appearance in the FIVB Club World Championships.
- They are the second team from Thailand to compete, after Federbrau Bangkok finished 5th in the 2010 and 2011 editions, both in Doha.
Hisamitsu Springs Kobe- Hisamitsu Springs have played five matches previously in the FIVB Club World Championships and have a 1-4 record.
- Only win was against Turkey's Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul in four sets in 2015 in Zurich.
