Manila, Philippines, October 23, 2016 – Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul’s back-to-back victory in the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship is a new record and a big push for the club to start right in the new season of the Turkish League.
Massimo Barbolini, Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul coach: “I’m happy, my team is happy. We knew how to be a great team. We worked together, and to win this tournament was a very big step for the season. I have a great team.
“I think (Pomi) Casalmaggiore played great, they're one of the strongest teams in the world, but we played with more attention in defence. We played perfectly.
“I'm happy with all my girls. When you win, it means you have very good practise. My girls are happy with this victory.”
On the pressure to be back-to-back champions:
“Being pressured is normal if you work with a good team, but the important thing is that you have a good team.”
Neslihan Demir, Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul: “It was a very tough game. We prepared ourselves for this kind of match, and we can’t be more than happy.
“We made history and it was very good. I'm very happy to be part of this team, and I hope we win all the cups from now on.”
