Zhu Ting got a record nine blocks for VakifBank Istanbul against Hisamitsu Springs Kobe.
Manila, Philippines, October 18, 2016 - The 2016 FIVB Women's Club World Championship got off to a cracking start, with Zhu Ting and VakifBank Istanbul setting two new blocking records of most stuffs in game individually and as a team, with 9 and 27 in their four-set win over Hisamitsu Springs Kobe.
These break the previous records of 25 blocks by Brazil's Sollys Nestle of Osasco against Thailand's Chang Bangkok in 2011 and of 8 blocks by Adenizia Silva of Osasco against Italy's Foppapdretti Bergamo in 2010, both in Doha.
Rio 2016 Olympic champion and MVP Zhu Ting of China, VakifBank's latest aquisitition, stuffed the Japanese players 9 times, as she emerged top scorer of the game with a total of 28. Milena Rasic of Serbia added another 6, with Kubra Akman and Naz Aydemir 4 each. Lonneke Sloetjes of The Netherlands with 3 stuffs and Kim Hill of USA with one completed VakifBank's tally.
