Eczacibasi flaunt form in rout of Pomi

Eczasibasi VitrA Istanbul's Thaisa Menezes smacks a hard one against Pomi Casalmaggiore blockers Jovana Stevanovic and Samanta Fabris as teammate Simge Akoz looks on.

Manila, Philippines, October 18, 2016 - Eczasibasi VitrA Istanbul displayed the type of game that won them the crown last year, turning back Pomi Casalmaggiore 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-15) in the third match Tuesday of the 2016 FIVB Women's Club World Championship at the Mall of Asia Arena.

It was a rousing start for the defending champions as they brought in an even stronger lineup this year with the addition of middle blocker Thaisa Menezes, outside hitter Tatiana Kosheleva and setter Maja Ognajenovic.

Tijana Boskovic topscored with 18 points for Eczacibasi which also got balanced output from Simge Akoz and Kosheleva who added nine and eight points, respectively.

They controlled the tempo of the match with better defense and blocking, aside from unleashing massive force in offence led by Jordan Larson who finished with seven points.

Eczasibasi had 34 attacks to Pomi's 25, and also led in blocks, 12-3.

Pomi Casalmaggiore tried to keep the match close with occasional forays but they could't match the defending champions power against power in this Group A match.
