Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul eager to go down in history

Reigning club world champions Eczacibasi will play to defend their title in Manila

Manila, Philippines, October 14, 2016 - FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World champions Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul will play to defend their crown in Manila from October 18 to 23 and to go down as the first team ever to claim back-to-back titles at the FIVB's flagship women's club volleyball event.

And if anybody knows how to win the Women’s Club World Championship, it is surely Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul wing-spiker Jordan Larson-Burbach.

The USA national team player won the most coveted trophy in international club volleyball with Dinamo Kazan in 2014 and with her current club Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul last year.

Larson-Burbach now has a golden opportunity to claim her third title in a row, which would be a unique achievement in the history of the competition.

Larson-Burbach is a key player for the Turkish club and one of the most decorated players in international volleyball. She has captured some of the most important trophies with the United States national team, including the 2015 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix, and won silver at the London 2012 Olympic Games and bronze at Rio 2016.

Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul have further strengthened their team by recruiting some of the biggest names in the sport over the summer, including double Olympic gold medallist Thaisa Menezes of Brazil, 2010 FIVB Volleyball world champion Tatiana Kosheleva of Russia, Rio 2016 silver medallist Maja Ognjenovic of Serbia and Rio 2016 bronze medallist Rachel Adams of the United States.

The “Daughters of Atatürk” have left no stone unturned in their quest to return to the top of international club volleyball at the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship in Manila.
