My target is to play well and nothing more - Terzic

Volero Zurich coach Zoran Terzic gives instructions to Foluke Akinradewo

Manila, Philippines, October 19, 2016 – Volero Zurich’s Serbian coach Zoran Terzic saw great improvement in their match-up against Asian club Hisamitsu Springs Kobe and underlined his target to play well in the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship at the Mall of Asia Arena on Wednesday.

Zoran Terzic, Volero Zurich coach: “First of all, I would like to congratulate my team because I didn’t expect it will be so easy. The team of Japan have a lot of players from the national team and I really expected one very tough and difficult game today but we really played well especially in blocking, defence and counter-attacks with (Natalya) Mammadova. Now we’re on 2-0 run, I am happy and satisfied and now we wait for another opponent.

“My target is to play well and nothing more. We just have to play better in every next game. I want to finish this competition happy and satisfied with how we played. If we will take first place or second or third, it will be okay.

Natalia Mammadova, Volero Zurich captain: “We did a good job because we came to the game more calm and not much stressed like yesterday. It’s not easy to play against an Asian team because their defence is always there. We beat them and it’s good because we took one step closer to advancing to the semifinals.

“It’s also important to get a good start in this kind of competition and I’m happy because our team has two wins in two games. It’s nice but we don’t want to be satisfied with the results. We have to improve game by game. We improved our confidence. We are ready to play towards the semifinals. The target is to win this competition.”

Miyu Nagaoka, Hisamitsu Springs Kobe captain: “We can’t find our rhythm in this match. It seems that we were tentative with the tempo. We have to think about this and make sure that we have that rhythm going, otherwise it just keeps everyone down.

“We do not have enough height and power as our opponents, so we have to think about how we can score against them. It was difficult to win against these taller and more powerful players. We have to get our percentage better next time. We are better on defence and this is what we need improve on in the next match.”
