Reyes joins PSL All-Star team

Manila, Philippines, July 19, 2016 – Jennylyn Reyes of Petron formally became the fourth player to be part of the Philippine Superliga (PSL) All-Star team that will see action in the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City from October 18 to 23.

A seasoned international campaigner who was part of the fabled Petron team that swept last year’s PSL All-Filipino Conference, Reyes was given the golden ticket by PSL president Ramon Suzara right after their match against F2 Logistics on Tuesday at the Batangas City Coliseum.

Suzara said she has what it takes to be part of the historic team as she is a hard-nosed floor defender who can chase the ball and receive even the hardest spikes from opposing hitters.

But more than that, she has a couple of international experience after seeing action in two Asian championships and was chosen to be part of the Foton Pilipinas squad, which will campaign in the Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship in Binan City in the Philippines from September 3 to 11.

“She’s the kind of player we need,” said Suzara. “It’s going to be a great opportunity for Reyes to experience world-class volleyball action and learn from her foreign team-mates and coaches. We hope that she will do her best to make the country proud.”

Reyes said she’s very humbled by the trust given to her and vowed to go all out to make an impact against the best players in the world.

“I’m happy and blessed by this great opportunity,” the 25-year old Reyes said. “Rest assured that I will go all out and give my very best because I will be playing not just for myself or for my club, but also for my country.”

Reyes will be joining setter Kim Fajardo of F2 Logistics, opposite hitter Jovelyn Gonzaga, and outside spiker Rachel Anne Daquis of RC Cola in the squad, which will be bannered by seven foreign reinforcements.

The PSL All-Star team will face Rexona Ades of Brazil, Volero Zürich of Switzerland, Pomì Casalmaggiore of Italy, Bangkok Glass of Thailand, Hisamitsu Springs of Japan and VakifBank Istanbul and Eczacibasi VitrA of Turkey.
