South America and Europe champions clash in Manila

 

Manila, Philippines, October 19, 2016 - South American champions Rexona Sesc Rio de Janeiero meet European champions Pomi Casalmaggiore in a highly decisive match in the race for a ticket to the semifinals of the 2016 FIVB Women's Club World Championship in Manila.

Rexona Sesc Rio opened their campaign with a solid 3-0 win over hosts PSL - F2 Logistics Manila and a second victory today would be huge leap in the right direction.

On the other hand, Pomi are with the backs to the wall, after a disappointing performance on the opening day and a straight-set defeat to defending world champions Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul.

- Making their debut appearance at the FIVB Club World Championship.

- Reigning European champions have won the world title in the last three seasons (VakifBank Istanbul in 2013, Dinamo Kazan in 2014 and Eczacibasi Istanbul in 2015).

Rexona-Sesc Rio de Janeiro
- Playing their 10th game in the history of the FIVB Club World, with a 5-4 record. All four defeats are from European clubs.
- Can become the fourth Brazilian club to claim the world title after Sadia Sao Paulo in 1991, Leite Moca Sorocaba in 1994 and Sollys Nestle Osasco in 2012.
