Vakifbank Istanbul set a record of 27 blocks in the FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship with 27 blocks
Manila, Philippines, October 18, 2016 - Vakifbank Istanbul deflected 27 shots of Hisamitsu Springs to set their winning pace in the FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship at the Mall of Asia Arena on Tuesday.
Giovanni Guidetti, Vakifbank Istanbul coach: I’ve never seen my team put up 27 blocks. That was amazing. Overall, I’m happy with how my team played. Japan gave us a real challenge in the third set but in a tournament like this, it’s always nice to be challenged early so my team can get a feel of the competition.
Kumi Nakada, Hisamitsu Springs Kobe coach: I think the other team’s service is very good. We were not able to adjust on our end. We got a little bit confused. Tomorrow’s team is also very good at offense so we will adjust on offense also. We should not lose speed.
Miyu Nagaoka, Hisamitsu Springs Kobe captain: First of all, we lost because we cannot get our timing. But the third set, it was smooth. The first and second set were not good. We want to comeback more improved for the next game.
