Volero and Pomi in battle for last ticket to final

 

Manila, Philippines, October 22, 2016 - Undefeated Volero Zurich take on reigning European Champions Pomi Casalmaggiore for the last remaining ticket to the final of the 2016 FIVB Women's Club World Championship.



Volero, who made it to the podium of the competition for the first time last year after two unsuccessful tries in 2013 and 2014, remain undefeated this year. They extneded their winning streak after denying VakifBank Istanbul a full comeback in their last match of pool play.



Pomi have the pressure of tradition, which wants the reigning European champions also claim the world crown, as has happened in the last three years running with VakifBank Istanbul, Dinamo Kazan and Eczacibasi Istanbul. They finished pool play in Manila on a 2-1 record, after surviving two match balls to beat Rexona Sesc Rio de Janeiro in the most thrilling of tie-breaks.
