Zhu powers VakifBank Istanbul past Hisamitsu Springs Kobe

 

Zhu Ting of Vakifbank Istanbul attacks past the block of Risa Shinnabe of Hisamitsu Springs Kobe

Manila, Philippines, October 18, 2016 – Olympic gold medalist Zhu Ting led VakifBank Istanbul as they turned back Hisamitsu Springs Kobe 3-1 (25-15, 25-15, 29-31, 25-18) in Pool B action of the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship at the Mall of Asia Arena on Tuesday.

Rio 2016 MVP and China star Zhu exploded with 28 points from 17 kills, nine blocks and two service aces for VakifBank Istanbul.


Lonneke Sloetjes added 18 markers for VakifBank, while Kimberly Hill chipped in 17, Milena Rasic contributed 13 and Kubra Akman made 11.

Miyu Nagaoka fired 18 points for Hisamitsu Springs Kobe, while Risa Shinnabe added 16 markers.


Up by two sets, VakifBank Istanbul looked to end the match after Kimberly Hill pushed the team at match point, 24-23, before Rika Nomoto forced a deuce, 24-24, en route to an exchange of points before Zhu Ting gave VhakifBank Istanbul the match point again, 28-27, but Hisamitsu Springs Kobe help on to extend the match, 31-29.
